International Practice: what to know before using your training outside Brazil
Academia Enlevo's Clinical Psychoanalysis Training offers a free educational foundation through the Método Alma Enlevo. Professional practice in other countries, however, may depend on local rules, protected titles, licenses, registrations, scope of practice, and norms specific to each jurisdiction.
This page was created to guide students and prospective students of Academia Enlevo on the precautions needed before offering clinical, psychoanalytic, therapeutic, educational, or counseling services outside Brazil.
Enlevo believes that serious training must also be transparent about its limits. That is why we communicate clearly: the certificate of completion issued by Enlevo Academy, LLC confirms the completion of a free-form (non-degree) training, but it does not replace the legal, professional, or regulatory requirements of any country.
International training is not automatic authorization to practice
Academia Enlevo has an international structure through Enlevo Academy, LLC, a company incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States. Upon completing the Clinical Psychoanalysis Training, the student may receive a private certificate of completion, in the form of a Certificate of Completion, tied to the Método Alma Enlevo.
This certificate records an educational journey. It must not be presented as an academic degree, a professional license, governmental accreditation, or automatic authorization for clinical, therapeutic, or mental health practice in any country.
The training is educational. Professional practice depends on local rules.
What the certificate proves
Completion of the Clinical Psychoanalysis Training through the Método Alma Enlevo, with course hours, student identification, completion date, and institutional signature.
What the certificate does not replace
Professional licenses, academic degrees, registrations with local bodies, state authorizations, or the legal requirements of each country.
Each country has its own rules
Practice may vary according to country, state, province, region, the title used, the type of service offered, and the audience served.
Transparency as a principle
Enlevo guides its students to communicate their training accurately, without promising official recognition or professional authorization that does not exist.
Before practicing outside Brazil, check
Before offering any clinical, therapeutic, psychoanalytic, educational, or counseling service in another country, the student or graduate must check the rules applicable to the place where they intend to practice.
- Whether the profession or activity is regulated in the country.
- Whether the intended professional title is protected.
- Whether there is a requirement for a license, registration, membership, or specific training.
- Whether the service offered may be considered clinical practice, psychotherapy, counseling, or mental health care.
- Whether there are specific rules for online services.
- Whether the law considers the location of the professional or the location of the client/patient.
- Whether there are requirements regarding privacy, informed consent, and data storage.
- Whether professional advertising is subject to restrictions.
- Whether the use of terms such as therapist, counselor, psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, psychologist, or similar is permitted.
- Whether it is necessary to consult a lawyer, a regulatory body, a professional council, or a local association.
Guidance by region
Each country sets its own rules.
United States
In the United States, many activities related to mental health, counseling, psychotherapy, psychology, family therapy, clinical social work, and clinical practices are regulated at the state level.
This means the rules may vary from one state to another. A practice that is permitted, restricted, or unregulated in one state may be treated differently in another.
The certificate issued by Enlevo Academy, LLC does not constitute a professional license, an American university degree, governmental accreditation, or state authorization for clinical practice in the U.S.
- Check the rules of the state where you intend to practice.
- Check whether the desired professional title is protected.
- Avoid presenting yourself as a licensed therapist, licensed counselor, psychologist, or mental health professional without a valid license.
- Check specific rules for online services.
- Consult the applicable state boards.
- Seek qualified legal advice in the state of practice.
Even if the professional is physically outside the United States, providing online services to a person located in the U.S. may involve the rules of the state where that person is. The analysis must be done before offering the service.
Europe and the European Union
In Europe, the rules on clinical practices, psychotherapy, counseling, mental health, and the use of professional titles can vary significantly between countries.
Some countries have more clearly defined regulation for psychotherapy, psychology, or mental health professions. Others may have different models, requiring membership, specific training, registration, or compliance with local professional criteria.
A student or graduate who wishes to practice in a European country must check the official rules of the destination country, especially if they intend to use professional titles, offer clinical care, or advertise therapeutic services.
- Check whether the profession is regulated in the country.
- Check whether the professional title is protected.
- Check requirements regarding training, registration, or professional membership.
- Observe professional advertising rules.
- Consider privacy and data protection norms.
- Seek local legal or professional guidance.
United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, certain professions linked to health and psychology have protected titles and require registration with specific bodies. In addition, there are relevant professional entities and voluntary registers in the field of psychotherapy and counseling.
Before using any professional title or offering clinical, therapeutic, or counseling services in the United Kingdom, the interested party must check whether the intended activity requires registration, a license, specific qualifications, or adherence to local professional standards.
- Do not use protected titles without meeting the applicable requirements.
- Check regulatory bodies and professional registers.
- Assess whether the service will be clinical, educational, reflective, or for personal development.
- Avoid advertising that suggests a license, accreditation, or registration that does not exist.
Canada
In Canada, various activities related to psychotherapy, counseling, social work, and mental health may be regulated by province or territory.
This means the analysis must consider the specific location where the professional intends to practice or where the client/patient is located.
- Check the rules of the province or territory.
- Check the use of titles such as psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist, or social worker.
- Consult local professional bodies.
- Analyze the requirements for online services.
- Seek qualified legal advice before offering services.
Other countries
In any other country, the logic remains the same: Academia Enlevo's training can be part of the student's educational journey, but professional practice will depend on local rules.
Before advertising services, attending to clients/patients, or using professional titles, the interested party must check the applicable legislation, the existing regulatory bodies, and the specific requirements of the country.
The certificate demonstrates training. Local law defines practice.
How to communicate your training safely
The way the professional presents their training is as important as the training itself. Imprecise communication can create a wrong impression about a license, official recognition, or professional authorization.

International online practice
Online practice requires special caution. In some countries or regions, the applicable rule may consider where the professional is, where the client/patient is, or both.
Therefore, before providing online services to a person located outside Brazil, the professional must check whether the service offered is permitted, whether it requires a local license or registration, and whether the form of advertising complies with the norms of the country or region.
- Where is the professional located?
- Where is the client/patient located?
- Is the service clinical, therapeutic, educational, reflective, or for personal development?
- Is the title used in advertising protected in that location?
- Is there a requirement for a license, registration, or professional insurance?
- Are there rules on privacy, informed consent, and data storage?
- Could the advertising lead the public to believe there is a license or official recognition that does not exist?
