About the course

ADHD beyond distraction.

ADHD in Focus — Advanced Specialization for Health and Education Professionals, by Academia Enlevo, was designed for those who want to understand Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in depth, responsibly and with practical application.

ADHD should not be reduced to distraction, restlessness, lack of effort, laziness or indiscipline. It is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect attention, impulsivity, organization, planning, emotional regulation, school functioning, professional life, family relationships and self-esteem.

At the same time, ADHD should not be used as an easy label. Not every restless child has ADHD; not every disorganized adult has ADHD; not every school difficulty indicates a disorder. Studying the subject requires balance: recognizing real signs and impacts without turning superficial observations into a diagnosis.

Academia Enlevo presents this course as a non-degree professional certification, with 120 class hours and a certificate recognized by the RNTP. The course does not replace an undergraduate degree, multidisciplinary assessment, medical or psychological diagnosis, prescription, the issuing of clinical reports, or practice beyond the student’s prior training.

The concept

What is ADHD?

ADHD stands for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder — a neurodevelopmental condition associated with symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity at levels that can cause significant impairment in a person’s life.

In childhood, it may appear as difficulty sustaining attention, forgetfulness, disorganization, restlessness, impulsivity and difficulty waiting one’s turn. In adolescence, as academic difficulties, procrastination, low frustration tolerance and emotional instability. In adulthood, as difficulty organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, managing time and sustaining attention in routine activities.

Inattention is one of the best-known symptoms, but it does not sum up the disorder. Many people with ADHD also face difficulties with planning, impulse control, emotional regulation, working memory and time management — and may concentrate intensely on topics of great interest, which does not eliminate the difficulty of regulating attention according to demand.

ADHD should not be treated as a lack of character or willpower, nor turned into a universal excuse. A responsible approach acknowledges the suffering, investigates the context, considers comorbidities, respects the person’s history and refers for professional assessment when necessary.

Why study it

ADHD cuts across school, clinic and work.

ADHD cuts across schools, clinics, families, universities and companies. It can affect learning, self-esteem, behavior, professional performance, emotional life and mental health.

At school, it may appear as difficulty following instructions, completing tasks, organizing materials and controlling impulses. When the school does not understand the disorder, the student may be punished for difficulties that call for support, routine and specific strategies.

In the clinic, it may appear associated with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, impulsivity and a history of failure. Many people come to care believing they are “incapable” or “lazy”, when part of their suffering relates to patterns of neuropsychological functioning.

Studying ADHD makes it possible to move beyond common sense and build a more technical, humane and interdisciplinary view — without promising that a non-degree course replaces professional assessment or specialized treatment.

Who it is for

Four entry points.

Each person comes to the study of ADHD through a different door — career change, a calling for listening, professional development or the pursuit of excellence. ADHD cannot be treated superficially.

Career change
For those who want to move closer to mental health and inclusive education, perceiving the relationship between behavior, neurodevelopment, school, family and professional support.

A calling for listening
For those who want to understand that behind delays, impulses and disorganization there may be suffering and invisible effort, without romanticizing the disorder.

Health and humanities professionals
Psychologists, psychoanalysts, therapists, physicians, pedagogues, educational psychologists, educators and HR professionals who encounter ADHD in the clinic, at school and at work.

Seekers of excellence
For those who avoid both extremes — “any distraction is ADHD” and “ADHD is made up” — seeking a rigorous, ethical and up-to-date perspective.

Objectives

What you will expand.

The central objective is to offer a broad and applied understanding of ADHD, its manifestations, possible causes, impacts and support strategies. By the end, the student is expected to have expanded their ability to:

  • Understand ADHD as a neurodevelopmental condition.
  • Recognize signs of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity at different stages of life.
  • Distinguish educational or clinical observation from formal diagnosis.
  • Understand the causes, theories and prevalence of ADHD from a multidisciplinary perspective.
  • Study the impact of ADHD in the school context and in educational inclusion.
  • Learn classroom strategies and reasonable accommodations for students with ADHD.
  • Understand possibilities for treatment, interventions and parenting strategies from an educational perspective.
  • Study ADHD across the life cycle, including adolescence and adulthood.
  • Understand psychoanalytic foundations related to ADHD, without reducing the disorder to a single approach.
  • Study neurobiology, executive functions and associated psychiatric comorbidities.
  • Reflect on the social and emotional challenges experienced by people with ADHD.
  • Recognize ethical limits: studying ADHD does not authorize diagnosis, clinical reports, prescription or practice beyond one’s prior training.
What you develop

Diagnostic process
Diagnosis from an educational perspective: professional assessment, history, symptoms in different contexts and investigation of similar conditions.

Inclusion and reasonable accommodations

Virtual environment

How the platform works.

The course takes place in Academia Enlevo’s virtual learning environment, with recorded video lessons, support materials, readings, PDFs, books, podcasts, assignments, assessments, therapeutic immersion and performance tracking.

The platform organizes the study journey and lets you progress within the expected timeframe. Being 100% online, the course can be taken from anywhere with internet access.

The intensive program was structured for completion in 8 weeks, with the possibility of completion within up to 6 months, according to the platform’s academic rules.

Access to the course is released after the enrollment is confirmed by the banking institution. Boletos (Brazilian bank payment slips) and other payment methods may have their own clearing times.

Applied learning

Therapeutic Immersion.

Therapeutic Immersion is an educational resource aimed at broadening the learning experience. In the ADHD in Focus course, it helps the student reflect on simulated situations involving symptoms, the school context, family, routine, intervention strategies, communication and referral.

It does not replace real care, clinical supervision, professional practice or multidisciplinary assessment. It works as a teaching resource to stimulate reasoning, prudence and decision-making — forming students who think before acting, recognize signs and know when to refer.

Certificate and limits

120 hours, certificate and transparency.

The ADHD in Focus course has 120 class hours, with an intensive program of 8 weeks and a maximum completion period of up to 6 months. No final thesis (TCC) is required; completion requires approval in a final assessment. Upon completion, the student receives the certificate issued by Academia Enlevo, presented as recognized by the RNTP.

This is a non-degree professional certification and development course. It is not an undergraduate degree, it is not a lato sensu postgraduate program accredited by the MEC (Ministério da Educação, Brazil’s Ministry of Education), and it does not replace higher education, professional registration, multidisciplinary assessment or the legal requirements of regulated professions.

This course does not make the student a psychologist, physician, psychiatrist, neurologist, pedagogue, educational psychologist or therapist, and does not, by itself, authorize the diagnosis of ADHD, the issuing of clinical reports, the administration of psychological tests, the prescription of medication or autonomous clinical practice.

Academia Enlevo stands for serious training. For this reason, this course does not promise a cure for ADHD, full mastery of complex cases, employment, patients, income or accreditation. Practice must respect each profession’s prior training, legislation and ethical limits.
