About the course

Autism beyond the stereotype.

Academia Enlevo's Online Autism Course — Symptoms, Diagnoses and Treatments was developed for those who wish to understand Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD; in Portuguese, TEA) with greater depth, responsibility and sensitivity.

Autism cannot be reduced to a list of signs or to a stereotyped image. Autistic people differ from one another: some need more support in communication and daily life; others are autonomous in many areas but face challenges in social interaction, sensory regulation, routine, school, work or emotional bonds.

That is why studying autism requires a broad view. The course covers the definition of ASD, common signs, the diagnostic process, gender differences, school and social inclusion, reasonable accommodations, assistive technologies, alternative communication, autism in adults, interventions, therapies, educational strategies and a psychoanalytic reading.

It is a 160-class-hour certification, 100% online, with a certificate recognized by RNTP. The course does not promise automatic qualification to diagnose, issue reports, prescribe treatment or practice beyond the student's prior training — it offers structured knowledge to improve understanding, listening, support and inclusion.

The concept

What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?

ASD is a neurodevelopmental condition involving differences in communication, social interaction, interests, patterns of behavior, sensory sensitivity and the way a person perceives, organizes and responds to the world.

The word “spectrum” is fundamental: there is no single way of being autistic. Some people speak fluently, study, work and live with a high degree of autonomy, yet still face social or sensory difficulties; others need intensive support for communication, routine, self-care and social participation.

Understanding autism requires leaving two extremes behind: the romanticized view, which ignores real difficulties, and the pathologizing view, which reduces the autistic person to limitations. The responsible path recognizes singularity, support needs, rights, potential, environmental barriers and possibilities for development.

The course works from this broad perspective: common signs of ASD, communication and interaction challenges, repetitive behaviors, selectivity, rigidity, sensory hypersensitivities and hyposensitivities, differences across the lifespan and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.

Why study it

Why study autism today?

Because autism is increasingly present in discussions about mental health, education, inclusion, work, family, rights and human development.

Mental health professionals encounter ASD-related needs in private practices, clinics, schools and companies. Educators work with autistic students and need to understand reasonable accommodations, communication and genuine inclusion. Families seek guidance and clear language. Autistic adults, often diagnosed late, seek understanding of their history and identity.

Studying autism makes it possible to look beyond the diagnosis — to understand the person, their way of functioning, their contexts, their bonds, their barriers and their possibilities for participation.

ASD calls for dialogue between fields: psychology, psychoanalysis, psychiatry, neurology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychopedagogy, education, social work, family and community. No single course replaces this network, but well-structured training broadens the repertoire of those who wish to work with greater preparation.

Who it is for

Four entry points.

Each person comes to the study of autism through a different door — a career change, a calling to listen and care, professional development or the pursuit of excellence. ASD cannot be treated superficially.

Career change
For those who wish to move closer to the fields of mental health, inclusive education and human development with a solid foundation on ASD.

A calling to listen
For those who want to learn to perceive the autistic person's unique forms of communication, without forcing them to fit a single model.

Health, education and humanities professionals
Psychologists, therapists, physicians, educators, pedagogues, social workers and HR professionals who encounter autism in clinics, schools and the workplace.

Seekers of excellence
For those who separate information from sensationalism, care from improvisation and genuine inclusion from empty rhetoric.

Awareness campaign

Autism and school.

An Academia Enlevo awareness campaign about autism in the school environment.

Understanding the autistic person beyond the diagnosis, with genuine inclusion and respect for singularity, is part of what this course proposes.

Objectives

What you will expand.

The central objective is to offer a broad, applied understanding of ASD, focusing on signs, diagnosis, inclusion, interventions, education, assistive technologies, communication and adult life. By the end, the student is expected to have expanded their ability to:

  • Understand ASD as a neurodevelopmental condition marked by a diversity of manifestations and support needs.
  • Recognize common signs of ASD at different stages of life, without turning this knowledge into informal diagnosis or inappropriate labeling.
  • Understand, at an educational level, how the diagnostic process works and which professionals may be involved.
  • Study differences in how autism presents in boys, girls, adolescents and adults.
  • Understand the importance of the autistic person's inclusion at school, in society, in the family and in the community.
  • Learn about educational strategies, reasonable accommodations and learning support resources.
  • Learn about assistive technologies and forms of augmentative and alternative communication.
  • Reflect critically on therapeutic and educational interventions, respecting evidence, ethics and professional training.
  • Understand the challenges of the transition to adult life, the job market, autonomy and mental health.
  • Broaden listening about autism from a humanized, multidisciplinary and non-reductionist perspective.
What you develop

Skills throughout the program.

ASD without stereotypes
Leaving simplistic images behind: autism involves different levels of support, forms of communication and modes of social participation.

Reading signs and symptoms
Communication, social interaction, restricted interests, repetitive behaviors, sensory sensitivity, routine and adaptation to change.

Diagnostic process
Diagnosis as a technical, multidisciplinary and responsible process — with no authorization to diagnose if the student's training does not permit it.

Inclusion and reasonable accommodations
Making environments more accessible, predictable and respectful — inclusion means participation, communication, adaptation and belonging, not just physical presence.

Assistive technologies and AAC
Augmentative and alternative communication, support tools, visual strategies and resources that foster autonomy and expression.

Autism in adults
Late diagnosis, identity, relationships, work, mental health, autonomy and quality of life — ASD does not end in childhood.

Psychoanalysis and autism
Listening to the subject, the singularity of language and bonds, without blaming families or reducing the person to a diagnosis.

Virtual environment

How it works: the platform.

The course takes place in Academia Enlevo's virtual learning environment, with recorded video lessons, support materials, readings, PDFs, books, assignments, assessments, podcasts, a discussion forum and performance tracking.

The platform organizes the study journey and lets you progress according to your routine. Because it is online, the course can be taken from anywhere with internet access.

The intensive program was structured for completion in 8 weeks, with the possibility of completion within up to 6 months, according to the platform's academic rules.

Access to the course is granted after the bank confirms the enrollment. Boleto bank slips and other payment methods may have their own clearing times.

Certificate and limits

160 hours, certificate and transparency.

The Online Autism Course has 160 class hours, with an intensive program of 8 weeks and a maximum completion period of up to 6 months. No final thesis is required; to complete the course, a pass in the final assessment is required. Upon completion, the student receives the certificate issued by Academia Enlevo, presented as recognized by RNTP.

This is a non-degree professional certification and development course. It is not an undergraduate degree, not a lato sensu postgraduate program accredited by MEC, and it does not replace higher education, professional registration or regulated specialization.

The course does not make the student a psychologist, physician, psychiatrist, neurologist, speech therapist, occupational therapist or psychopedagogue, and does not, by itself, authorize issuing reports, administering psychological tests, diagnosing or prescribing treatments.

Academia Enlevo stands for serious training. That is why this course does not promise a cure for autism, guaranteed diagnosis, employment, income or accreditation. Professional practice must respect prior training, current legislation, codes of ethics and the need for referral to qualified professionals.
