Psychoanalysis training for teachers and educators
Teachers and educators can train as psychoanalysts at Academia Enlevo, even without a degree in psychology. Psychoanalysis helps you understand what is at stake in the teacher-student relationship, in the symptoms that show up at school, and in the family’s place in learning.
The training is 100% online, with 720 hours in the Método Alma Enlevo, live classes every two weeks (recorded), and cohorts for debate and case analysis.
How psychoanalysis expands your work
- Transference in the classroom: understanding why some students put the teacher in the place of figures from their own history, and how that affects the bond and learning.
- Learning difficulties: reading what a block may be saying, beyond performance.
- Relationship with families: listening to the expectations and anxieties that parents bring to school.
- Teacher malaise: recognizing your own exhaustion and what it reveals about the work.
What you can and cannot do
Once you complete the training, you can work as a psychoanalyst in private practice, in person or online, and use psychoanalytic listening in your educational work.
At school, the teacher is still a teacher. The classroom does not become a consulting room: seeing students as a psychoanalyst within your own school mixes roles and harms both jobs. Diagnosing learning disorders and issuing formal reports remain with the professionals qualified to do so.
An educator’s routine × what the training adds
| In the school routine | What the training adds |
|---|---|
| A student who defies or shuts down | A reading of the bond and of transference |
| A learning block with no apparent cause | Hypotheses about what the symptom communicates |
| Difficult conversations with families | Listening to parents’ expectations and anxieties |
| Teacher fatigue and frustration | Understanding of teacher malaise |
If you want to deepen your work with children, you can go on to the specialization in Child Psychoanalysis.
Frequently asked questions
Can an educator become a psychoanalyst?
Yes. Psychoanalysis does not require a degree in psychology, and Academia Enlevo accepts students from any field. See Training without a degree.
Can I see my students as a psychoanalyst?
It is not advisable. At school, you are a teacher; seeing your own students mixes roles. The consulting room is the place for psychoanalytic treatment.
Does the training help even if I don’t want to see patients?
Yes. Many educators take the training to better understand their students, the families and their own work.
