Psychoanalysis training for healthcare professionals
Nurses and other healthcare professionals can take Academia Enlevo’s psychoanalysis training and work as psychoanalysts, as well as bring psychoanalytic listening to the care they already provide. Psychoanalysis helps you understand the suffering behind the physical complaint, deal with the anguish of patients and their families, and look after your own emotional exhaustion.
The training is 100% online, with 720 hours in the Método Alma Enlevo, live classes every two weeks (recorded), and cohorts for debate and case analysis, which makes it possible to study even with a shift schedule.
How psychoanalysis expands your work
- Listening at the bedside: noticing what the patient says beyond the symptom, and what they cannot manage to say.
- Grief and illness: having more resources to accompany the impact of a diagnosis, a hospital stay and a loss, on patients and their families.
- Team burnout: recognizing your own exhaustion and the team’s before it turns into illness.
- Psychosomatic symptoms: understanding when the body speaks of what cannot find words, without disregarding medical investigation.
What you can and cannot do
Once you complete the training, you can work as a psychoanalyst in private practice, in person or online, and use psychoanalytic listening in your healthcare work.
The training does not expand the legal scope of your original profession. It does not authorize prescribing medication or making psychiatric diagnoses, and psychoanalytic treatment does not replace medical treatment. In teamwork, the protocols and the rules of your professional council still apply.
A healthcare professional’s routine × what the training adds
| In the healthcare routine | What the training adds |
|---|---|
| A patient who is anxious before a procedure | Listening resources to welcome the anguish without minimizing it |
| A family in mourning or facing a serious diagnosis | Understanding of grief and of psychic defenses |
| Physical complaints with no organic cause found | A psychoanalytic reading of the symptom, in dialogue with the medical team |
| Long shifts and team exhaustion | Understanding of your own exhaustion and of suffering at work |
