Academic rigor: how Academia Enlevo's training is studied, assessed and completed
Academia Enlevo's Clinical Psychoanalysis Training adopts the modern academic model of training, with a focus on clinical work and clinical care: mandatory, assessed study, clinical work learned through case analysis, and completion with final assessments and a TCC (final course paper), as in undergraduate and graduate programs. It comprises 720 hours in 24 modules, over 6 to 24 months: the 6-month minimum is recommended for those who already have experience or prior knowledge; those starting from scratch usually take 8 to 9 months. Personal analysis and supervision are recommended and freely chosen by the student — the so-called tripod is not a legal requirement in Brazil.
This page explains each pedagogical choice of the training and why it was made: what is studied, how it is learned, how it is assessed, how clinical work comes in from the start, and what is mandatory or recommended.
Why Academia Enlevo chose the academic model of training
Academia Enlevo trains psychoanalysts on the same principle that guides undergraduate, graduate and master's programs: the student only completes the training after demonstrating, through assessment and in writing, what they have learned. In this model, the seriousness of the training lies in the completion criterion — not in the number of years or sessions the student has to pay for.
The traditional model of the psychoanalytic associations, the tripod, organizes training around mandatory personal analysis and supervision for years, alongside theoretical study. It is a respectable tradition, but it is an internal rule of associations, not a requirement of Brazilian law. Academia Enlevo made a different choice: to make mandatory and assessed what can be measured — study, clinical reasoning and written production — and to keep analysis and supervision as a recommendation, with a professional freely chosen by the student, with no tie to the school.
The result is a training with a defined beginning, middle and end, a cost known in advance and a transparent completion criterion.
How it is learned: the training's teaching techniques
The Clinical Psychoanalysis Training combines teaching techniques used for decades in health and law programs:
- Case-based learning: in the live classes every two weeks, the professor works through clinical cases — the reasoning, the listening, the analysis of the case and the possibilities for handling it. Theory is learned at the moment it becomes clinical practice.
- Peer learning: the classes work as a space for debate and case analysis among colleagues; no one studies alone.
- Writing to learn: the Scientific Article Writing module and the TCC require the student to organize their clinical thinking in writing — what is written with precision is what has truly been understood.
- Guided review: the Reviews and Guidance module revisits the content and guides study before completion.
- Your own pace with a defined deadline: the 720 hours are the same for everyone; the student advances at their own pace, between 6 and 24 months, with all classes recorded for review.
On the Academia Enlevo campus, the study platform, these techniques gain their own resources:
- AI-simulated clinical cases: simulated patients, with a persona, a history and resistances, so the student can practice listening before seeing patients.
- Critical Listening Circle (Círculo de Escuta Crítica): small groups in which students present and discuss their own listening.
- Guided Ethical Self-Confrontation (Auto-Confronto Ético Orientado): self-knowledge work with a method and guidance.
- Implicated and Subversive Reading (Leitura Implicada e Subversiva): reading the authors in critical dialogue, not in repetition.
- Group supervision, lectures and live meetings.
- Personalized study path, curated library, exclusive material (articles, case studies, protocols) and the podcast Psicanaliticamente.
- Certificates with public verification.
What is studied: 720 hours in 24 modules
Academia Enlevo publishes the curriculum of the Clinical Psychoanalysis Training module by module, following the Método Alma Enlevo. The path starts from the philosophical foundations of human thought, goes through the great authors of psychoanalysis and arrives at listening, technique and consulting-room practice.
| Block | Modules |
|---|---|
| Philosophical foundations | Introduction to Philosophy; Plato; Aristotle; Descartes; Nietzsche |
| Fundamentals | Introduction to Mental Health and Psychoanalysis |
| Classical psychoanalysis | Freud I, II and III; Carl Jung I and II; Karen Horney; Melanie Klein; Lacan |
| Academic training | Scientific Article Writing; Reviews and Guidance |
| Clinical practice | Clinic and Psychoanalytic Practices |
| Other approaches | Gestalt Therapy; Behaviorism; Humanistic and Holistic Theories; Neuropsychology and Psychogenetics; Social Cognitive Theory |
| Professional practice | Continuing Education; The Psychoanalyst's Law |
How the training is assessed and completed
Academia Enlevo completes the training with criteria like those of undergraduate and graduate programs: final assessments and the submission of a TCC (final course paper). Watching the classes or putting in the time is not enough: the student must demonstrate what they have learned and organize that knowledge in writing.
The curriculum itself prepares for this: the Scientific Article Writing module teaches scientific methodology and writing, and the Reviews and Guidance module revisits the content and guides study before completion.
The TCC is not just a bureaucratic step: it is the student's first production as a psychoanalyst. The best papers are published in Interapia – Revista de Clínica, Cultura e Ciências Mentais (ISSN 3085-9085), a scientific journal with double-blind peer review, maintained by the RNTP and with Prof. Ulisses Jadanhi among its editors. Publication gives the student authorship, a track record and authority from the start of their career.
Upon approval, the student receives the certificate of completion issued by Academia Enlevo, registered with the RNTP (first annual fee included) and with the AIMS Triple A rating. The international certificate from Enlevo Academy, LLC, a company in the United States, is optional.
A training focused on clinical work and clinical care
Academia Enlevo's Clinical Psychoanalysis Training prepares the student to see patients: the entire path — theory, technique, ethics and practice — converges on the consulting room and clinical care. The Clinic and Psychoanalytic Practices and The Psychoanalyst's Law modules, and the marketing content for professional practice, exist so that the student finishes ready for their first patients.
At Academia Enlevo, clinical work is learned through case analysis from the first month, and not only after years of training. Case discussion takes place throughout the training. The live classes are held every two weeks (twice a month), with the professor, and are used for the study and discussion of clinical cases: clinical reasoning, listening, the analysis of the case and the possibilities for handling it. All of them are recorded on the platform.
The classes work as a space for debate and case analysis among colleagues, so that no one studies alone.
How long it takes: from 6 to 24 months
| Profile | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Those who already have experience or prior knowledge | Minimum of 6 months |
| Those starting from scratch | Usually take 8 to 9 months |
| Those who want a calmer pace and more depth | Up to 2 years (access is valid for up to 2 years) |
Academia Enlevo sets a minimum, and not a single deadline, because the 720 hours are the same for everyone: what changes is the pace of the person studying. Six months is the floor for those who come with a foundation; most take longer.
Personal analysis and supervision: what is mandatory and what is recommended
There are two legitimate models of psychoanalysis training in Brazil. In the traditional model of the psychoanalytic associations, the so-called tripod, personal analysis and supervision are mandatory over years, together with theoretical study. In free academic training, like Academia Enlevo's, study is mandatory and assessed, and analysis and supervision are recommended and freely chosen by the student. The tripod is a tradition of associations, not a requirement of Brazilian law.
At Academia Enlevo, supervision is available to anyone who wants it, without obligation, and the student may choose another professional. The school recommends supervision to those who are starting to see patients. After graduating, the student has up to 3 sessions of analysis or supervision at no cost.
Legal basis and what the certificate is (and is not)
- The training is a non-degree course, supported by the LDB (Law 9.394/96). No psychoanalysis course is recognized by the MEC in Brazil.
- Psychoanalysis has no federal council and no regulation of the profession; the occupation of psychoanalyst is listed in CBO 2515-50 (MTE Ordinance 397/2002).
- RNTP and AIMS are private entities: they grant voluntary credentials, not a government license or registration with a council.
